Boakes left Friends Provident in December 2009 following its takeover by Clive Cowdery’s Resolution investment vehicle.

He is reporting directly to Lloyds Banking Group's managing director for mortgages, Colin Walsh and is at the firm on an interim basis.

Boakes confirmed to PRWeek he is supporting Walsh’s efforts to pull together the teams and products at the banking group’s various brands. Walsh joined the group in May this year.

The job is predominantly supporting internal comms, but he will also support Walsh on aspects of his own external comms and profile.

Lloyds Banking group mortgage distribution is primarily channelled through Halifax, Birmingham Midshires, Cheltenham & Gloucester (C&G) and Scottish Widows.

Boakes’ interim role sits outside the Lloyds Banking Group comms function led by Brigitte Trafford.

Before moving in-house Boakes he was CEO of financial comms agency Grandfield until 2003 and was also a founding director of Ludgate Communications.
