Guinness lists agencies to vie for consumer job

Guinness has drawn up a longlist of agencies to compete in the

long-expected review of its strategic UK trade and consumer PR.

According to Jonathan Miller, global corporate and brand manager for

Guinness, ten agencies have been asked to submit their credentials.

He said, ’We are looking for an agency in the medium to long term to

conduct strategic brand consumer campaigns and with a background in that

type of area. Experience of the drinks sector would be an advantage, but

we are looking for a whole raft of attributes.’

The list is believed to include The Red Consultancy, Guinness’s PR

agency for the past three years, Lexis PR, Nexus Choat and Beer

Davies.

Lindsey Sexton, who joins Guinness next month from Nexus Choat to head

its UK PR (PR Week, 8 October), will be involved in the selection.

According to Miller, after viewing the proposals of the ten agencies

involved, a short list of four will be drawn up to pitch on a specific

brief. An appointment is expected by the end of the year.

The winner will be faced with the task of implementing a campaign

devised by Guinness to help it win an increased share of the drinks

market, by capitalising on product initiatives such as the launch this

month of draft in a bottle.
