DIARY: GMTV is one diva light as driver makes Gladys Knight miss the pips

A recent Peter Noble PR project was the series of Diva concerts in London

starring Gladys Knight, Randy Crawford and Dionne Warwick.

In a bid to remind the general public of the towering talents of the three

soul singers, agency director Suzanne Noble set about getting some TV

coverage. The process was far from easy and included three weeks of

negotiations with the divas’ various management and agents.

Eventually a deal was struck and the three agreed to appear together on

GMTV.

But on the morning of the appearance disaster struck, with GMTV’s car

service going to the wrong location to pick up Gladys Knight, causing her

to miss the interview slot.

Last minute meetings managed to sort the situation out and in the end

provided a better result for the agency as the concerts were covered in

two items, hitting two audiences - the workers and the mums back from the

school run.

A stressed Suzanne says she cried on the way back to the office. ’I was so

relieved that it had gone so well after all the hard work,’ she says.
