HONG KONG: One of Hong Kong’s leading corporate affairs and IR

agencies, Forrest International, has yielded to Interpublic-owned Golin/

Harris after being courted by WPP and BSMG, among others, for the past

two years.

The deal marks GH’s third buy in Asia, having acquired its first two

Asian offices in Tokyo and Taipei earlier this year from fellow

Interpublic subsidiary Shandwick.

Forrest’s offices in Hong Kong and Singapore will be rebranded

Golin/Harris Forrest, with agency founder and MD Anne Forrest taking the

helm as managing director Asia.

Chicago-based GH, ranked number 15 in the world, has practice strengths

in IR and corporate affairs which match that of Forrest, but some

industry observers noted differences in the composition of their client

lists.

GH works with multinational firms like McDonald’s, Johnson and Johnson

and Nintendo, while Forrest’s client base is comprised of listed local

companies, such as Cathay Pacific and Jardine Matheson.

Synergies include Jardine Matheson, which works with Ludgate in London,

now a Golin/Harris operation since the two merged in June.

Rich Jernstedt, CEO of GH, said: ’The internationalisation of our brand

will be marked with strategic acquisitions in critical markets. We have

more plans for Asia-Pacific.’
