Comic Relief has appointed Louise Combes as head of communications.

Combes previously worked at Comic Relief from 1991-1995 as

communications officer.

She replaces previous incumbent Gerry Doyle who left last year and will

oversee 11 people in the marketing department, comprising three teams:

media relations, education and information and print and production. She

will report to Amanda Horton-Mastin, marketing director.

Since leaving the charity in 1995, Combes has worked at Paramount,

Pathe, on Children’s Promise and for the Diana Fund.’It’s great to be

back at Comic Relief,’ she said.

The media relations team has also had a revamp with the appointment of

Shelter’s Jacqui White to the new role of media relations officer.

’As we are now doing projects between the Red Nose Days, we needed an

extra member of staff in the media relations team,’ Sarah Burke, media

relations manager, said.

The team will be looking for a further five staff -three media relations

officers and two media relations assistants - in August in the run up to

Red Nose Day in March 2001.
