HONG KONG: Philippines-based telecoms conglomerate First Pacific

has filled its most senior corporate communications post from within the

company.

Rebecca Brown has been appointed executive vice-president of group

corporate communications, moving from her post as assistant

vice-president of group finance, as part of a management reshuffle.

The role is for external relations across the First Pacific subsidiaries

operating in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and

Thailand.

Her responsibilities will be expanded to China when a joint venture in

mobile telephony is set up in February. Brown replaces Bob Sherbin, who

left to head PR for Gateway in Asia last autumn (PR Week, 29 Oct).

According to Brown her first move will be to upgrade First Pacific’s

investor relations. Changes will include more regular group analyst

meetings and greater media and investor access to chief operating

officer Michael Healy.

First Pacific subsidiaries Metro Pacific, Philippine Long Distance

Telephone and Bonifacio Land will also come under her responsibilities

for external corporate PR.
