Holmes Place takes PR in-house

Holmes Place, the luxury health and fitness club company, has taken

its PR in-house and appointed a new public relations manager.

Vicky Lamb joins Holmes Place from Burson-Marsteller where she worked

within its corporate division as a senior account executive. She reports

to marketing director Bob Mosseri.

Until November last year Holmes Place used Harvard Public Relations to

handle its public relations. Mosseri said the decision to bring the PR

in-house was not due to dissatisfaction with Harvard’s performance.

’We were very satisfied with their work,’ he said. ’However, the amount

of work had grown so dramatically that we decided to bring the PR

in-house.’

Lamb will handle the PR for the launches of seven health clubs opening

this year in England. She will also provide PR for Holmes Place’s

marketing initiative Fitness for Business, an annual programme targeting

corporate clients; work on the internal magazine; and assist in

developing the company’s web site.

Holmes Place has a network of 37 gyms in Greater London and

internationally in France, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. Its

membership currently stands at 97,000.

It is a leader in the rapidly expanding health and fitness industry, and

opened 11 new health clubs in 1999.
