Cohn and Wolfe has taken on a six-figure account as media and

sponsorship adviser to English First Division Rugby (EFDR), the company

which represents the 12 top professional rugby union teams.

The agency is tasked with raising the domestic game’s media profile

while attracting new sponsors on a rolling contract which runs to

July.

Graham Fleet, Cohn and Wolfe director of sports and sponsorship, said

the priority is to bring lapsed club rugby fans back to the game,

building on the popularity of international fixtures.

Seven people will work on the account and the agency will involve

players as much as possible. Getting rugby into the non-sports media

will be another key task, targeting magazines, the internet and

lifestyle TV, emphasising the fitness and skill of players.

The agency will also promote fixture lists and ticket prices, said

Fleet.

Cohn and Wolfe sports and sponsorship clients include Reebok, Coca-Cola

and Visa.

- Contrary to PR Week, 14 January, Cohn and Wolfe did not repitch for

Absolut Vodka’s consumer account.
