Brooke’s wider role will assume the responsibilities of Matt Baker, Channel 4's former PR head who in June quit his role after 12 years with the broadcaster.

‘Having been the driving force behind the birth of Channel 4’s portfolio of digital channels Dan is returning here at the dawn of digital convergence, an era where communication with all of our audiences will be more vital than ever to the success of Channel 4’s mission. Over his varied career he has shown an ability to innovate, in both the public service and commercial worlds.’
Brooke was previously MD at indie Rare Day, but worked at Channel 4 from 1998 to 2005. He joined as head of marketing & development for FilmFour, rising to be MD of digital channels, launching its digital portfolio in 2001.
Brooke added: ‘Progressive cultures, like ours, need independent, iconoclastic forces to help keep them that way. I love Channel 4 and everything it stands for and I look forward to leading its award-winning marketing and communications team through this next exciting chapter of its story.’Rufus Radcliffe, Nick Toon and Jane Fletcher will continue to manage, respectively, the specialist marketing, corporate relations and press and publicity teams and will report to Brooke as part of the new integrated group.
Brooke will take up his new post early in 2011.
