College HiLL has hired Leonid Fink to develop its portfolio of Russian and CIS clients. He joins from Merlin, where he headed the firm's Russian desk.

New England Sports Ventures, the US sports firm bidding for Liverpool Football Club, is using Vero Communications to support comms around the deal. Brunswick is advising retained client Martin Broughton, the Liverpool chairman.

Kreab Gavin Anderson has brought in Rupert Trefgarne as a director, joining from Smithfield. He has also worked at FD and Bell Pottinger Financial.

Natixis Global Asset Management has hired Nicole Wesch as vice-president of global public relations. Previously, she was head of Asia-Pacific PR for Dow Jones Indexes.

FD has supported longstanding client VimpelCom, listed in New York but with operations centred in Russia, around its merger with Egyptian firm Weather Investments.

AXA Private Equity has used retained City agency HeadLand to handle comms on the sale of its chemicals firm Eliokem to Omnova Solutions.
