INTERNATIONAL: Shandwick picks up Danone Spanish PR account

BARCELONA: Shandwick has won the Spanish PR account for multinational food giant Danone, on six-figure fees.

BARCELONA: Shandwick has won the Spanish PR account for

multinational food giant Danone, on six-figure fees.

The win follows a three-way pitch last month against incumbent agency

Burson-Marsteller and Spanish firm Llorente and Cuenca.

The account will be run from Shandwick Spain’s two offices. The head of

Shandwick Spain’s corporate practice and managing director of the

Barcelona office, Mateu Llinas, will lead the account with a five-strong

team, alongside Madrid’s managing director Miguel Lopez-Quesada.

Shandwick’s remit includes corporate communications, media relations,

crisis management, government relations, corporate positioning, health

marketing, product and consumer PR and the launch of new Danone

lines.

Shandwick is Danone’s only PR agency in Spain and, according to Quesada,

the win raises the possibility of rolling out a Shandwick-Danone

partnership across Europe later in 2000.

Financial PR is excluded from Shandwick’s brief because Danone is not a

listed company in Spain, although it is listed in other European

countries.
