BBC Magazines seeks agency for biggest launch

BBC Magazines is looking for a PR agency to handle what is described as its biggest-ever launch, a monthly glossy women’s magazine.

described as its biggest-ever launch, a monthly glossy women’s

magazine.



The BBC has not revealed the date of the launch, codenamed ’Project

Irma’.



Jennie Allen, head of press and PR, UK region for BBC Worldwide is

heading the search. She said an agency would be appointed for the launch

and probably the following six months, at which time the account would

be reviewed.



Credentials are being sought from five or six agencies with experience

in magazines, particularly women’s titles. The selected agency will

report to Mike Blakemore, head of press and PR, magazines.



BBC Magazines also publishes titles such as Good Food, Homes and

Antiques, the Radio Times and Top of the Pops magazine.



Despite the latest Audit Bureau of Circulation figures pointing to a

fall in circulation for some women’s titles. Allen said: ’The whole

market is undergoing a tough time, but we believe we have something

distinctive which will hit the right spot.’
