Investcorp hires head of corporate comms

Former Coutts NatWest Group PR chief Deborah Botwood Smith has joined global investment group Investcorp as corporate communications head.

Former Coutts NatWest Group PR chief Deborah Botwood Smith has

joined global investment group Investcorp as corporate communications

head.

Botwood Smith will be responsible for both external and internal

communications.

She reports to Lawrence Kessler, Investcorp head of administration,

general counsel and a member of the management committee. She replaces

Jo Crosland, who retires after 11 years at the firm.

Botwood Smith has been on holiday since being made redundant by Coutts

last year when a revamp of its corporate communications and marketing

divisions made her post expendable. Coutts’ corporate PR merged with the

marketing department and internal communications became part of the

strategy department.

She had reported to Andrew Fisher, commercial director of Coutts Group,

and oversaw a team of five in the UK, as well as an international team

based in Switzerland, Miami, Asia and the Channel Islands.

In her new role at Investcorp, she oversees a team of three in London,

Hill and Knowlton in Bahrain, Kekst and Brunswick in the US, Charles

Barker in Germany, AKKA in France and Farner in Switzerland.

Botwood Smith was previously vice-president of corporate relations at

Visa International and began her PR career at Burson-Marsteller.

Investcorp specialises in corporate investment in North America and

western Europe, real estate investment in North America and global asset

management.

Kessler said: ’Deborah joins us as the markets we operate in expand

rapidly.’
