Last week, PR industry members slammed the guidelines issued by the advertising industry bodies for being 'ambiguous' and 'unclear'.
The regulations, due to be enforced from March 2011, could restrict the ability of PR campaigns to generate social media dialogue owing to a lack of distinction between online marketing and editorial content.
The CIPR will meet ASA chief executive Guy Parker and AA chief operating officer Rae Burdon.
CIPR board member and Staniforth MD UK Rob Brown said: 'The plan is to discuss how the ASA guidelines fall out of the definition of advertising. This isn't a PR versus advertising battle, it's more about working out a way to make sure that the regulating is done properly.'
ASA press officer Matt Wilson said the association would listen to the concerns but that the meeting was not 'designed with changes in mind'.
