Emap Metro has named Katie Grand as fashion director of The

Face. She will take over the magazine’s fashion coverage from the

December issue.

Grand held the post of fashion director at Dazed and Confused since the

magazine’s launch in the early-1990s, and has built a reputation as a

freelance fashion stylist and creative director. She resigned from her

job at Dazed and Confused two weeks ago, and took up her new post this

week.

Ashley Heath, editorial director of The Face, Arena and Arena Homme

Plus, commented: ’Katie was largely responsible for Dazed and Confused’s

reputation as an interesting visual proposition, a role for which she

has won little media recognition.’

Grand will continue her role as a senior contributor to the biannual

Arena Homme Plus, in addition to her responsibilities at The Face.

Commenting on her new role, she said: ’I grew up with The Face. This is

a job I used to fantasise about.’

Meanwhile, Emap Metro has also appointed Steve Beale as editor-at-large

for The Face and Arena. Beale, currently editor of Sleazenation, will

take up his new role as soon as he has completed his final issue of the

magazine.

He will act as the public face of both magazines at launches, parties

and club events, and will also have an input into the feature agenda of

both titles.
