Jane Wilson joins the CIPR from online ticket marketplace Seatwave.com where she spent six months as comms director.
Wilson formerly held the position of comms director at GCap Media for five years.
She will commence her role with the CIPR at the start of October.
CIPR president, Jay O’Connor, said: 'Jane is an exceptional communicator whose experience spans media, public affairs, investor relations, internal communications, policy and marketing.’
Wilson has previously worked in senior comms roles at Scottish Media Group and Capital Radio.
She said: ‘A professional body is only successful when it truly represents and engages its members. I am looking forward to working with our members and the broader profession to ensure that the CIPR not only responds to the profession’s needs but actively leads it.’
The CIPR’s former director general, Colin Farrington, left the organisation in March of this year after spending 11 years at its helm.
