DIARY: End of a good innings for Vodafone’s point man on the cricket team

Andy Kenny, a senior account executive at Craigie Taylor, is coming to

the end of his own two-year tour of duty as liaison officer between the

team and chief sponsor Vodafone.

His main responsibility has been to ensure that Vodafone branding is

well represented at every England press conference and training

session.

As a self confessed ’cricketnut’ Kenny has enjoyed the job, but has

decided to return to Craigie Taylor HQ in Guildford to further his

career.

Kenny has held the position since 1997 and in that time has also toured

the West Indies and Australia.

However, the lifestyle can be harsh on one’s personal life; Kenny has

spent the past three Christmas holidays away from family and

friends.

’To be honest it hasn’t bothered me,’ he says. ’There is a good

atmosphere between the players and journalists and it didn’t really feel

like Christmas in the heat.’

Replacing Kenny is new recruit James Souter, who will be taking over the

role later this month when the tour moves on to Zimbabwe for a one-day

competition.
