AOL UK has named Matt Peacock as corporate communications director.

Peacock was previously a partner with specialist corporate reputation

consultancy Regester Larkin.

Heading a team of ten, Peacock will handle communications across three

brands - AOL, Compuserve and Netscape Online. His first task will be to

restructure the internal communications team. Until now AOL and

Compuserve have had separate communications teams with the AOL team also

working on Netscape.

’By pooling the knowledge and experience of the corporate communications

group it should benefit all of the brands,’ said Peacock.

He replaces Maggie Gallant who has left the organisation to go

travelling.

He reports to Bill Burrington, who is AOL Europe’s senior vice-president

and chief communications officer.

Larkin is one of two agencies retained by AOL. The other is Joe Public

Relations which launched Netscape Online last summer (PR Week 20

August).

The pounds 220 billion merger between AOL Inc and Time Warner does not

directly affect AOL UK. However according to Peacock, in time it will

lead to ’increased content quality and resources’.

AOL is Europe’s biggest ISP, with 2.7 million subscribers.
