PR professionals are nearly twice as likely to change jobs every

two to three years as other white collar professionals.

A survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that 37 per cent of PROs

believe it is acceptable to move in the short to medium-term compared

with 21 per cent of all those surveyed, including the marketing, human

resources and financial professions.

’These are not young account executives, who traditionally flit from one

job to the next fairly quickly, but people at the top end of the market

who, in other professions, look for stability in their careers at this

stage,’ said PWC partnerAlannah Hunt.

Those PROs surveyed were described as being at a senior

management/director level with the majority on salaries in excess of

pounds 50,000.

However, the results were no surprise to PRCA chairman Adrian

Wheeler.

’A good PR person must have an insatiable curiosity about finding out

how other companies and sectors work,’ he said.
