PC World, the UK’s largest PC retailer, is seeking a new PR agency

after incumbent August. One Communications resigned the account.

August. One UK MD Tariq Khwaja confirmed that the agency had resigned and

said the decision was made after a failure to agree on contractual terms

after the initial three- month trial period was up.

’We couldn’t agree business terms and decided to be true to August. One’s

mission statement and work with progressive clients,’ he said.

PC World marketing manager Anna Lord said the retailer is currently

considering pitches from two other agencies before deciding on a new

appointment.

August. One reported to Lord and press officer Justine Moon, who handled

day-to-day management of the account. ’We were happy with the work they

were doing, they had some good results,’ said Moon.

The appointed agency will have a brief similar to August. One, covering

consumer, business and specialist computer press. Fees are in excess of

pounds 100,000.

August. One had been hired earlier this year (PR Week, 21 January) as PC

World’s first ever external agency.
