Leighton joined the agency from Waggener Edstrom in March this year where she held the post of global head of client development, having also held positions at Edelman and Weber Shandwick.
She leaves the global tech shop in order to spend more time with her family and officially departs the agency later this month.
Leighton said of her decision: ‘After a wonderful holiday with my family I realised that after 18 years in the industry, it was time to focus on them.’
Dan Baxter, former UK deputy MD, has taken the helm with immediate effect. He has been with the agency for four years and has over 12 years industry experience.
Baxter currently leads on accounts for tech brands NXP, Semiconductors, SanDisk and AMD, having previously worked on the agency’s IBM, Psion and Toshiba programmes.
He joined the agency from Intel, where he worked on UK and EMEA PR programmes for the firm.
Leighton added: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Text 100 and am confident that Dan will lead the UK team on to great things.’
Text 100’s regional director northern Europe, Sarah MacKenzie said: ‘We completely respect Kirsty’s decision and wish her and her family all the best. We’re in great hands with Dan at the helm.’
