Border Lines: Dublin - Cantwell retires from Catholic office

Jim Cantwell is retiring from his position as director of the Catholic Press and Information Office after 25 years at the organisation. A journalist by training, he was the only press officer when he joined the body in 1975, but now heads a team of five. The office acts as the national communications centre for the Irish Catholic church’s 1,300 parishes. The office does not retain any PR agencies but has used them on a project basis in the past. A communications audit is underway, but Cantwell’s successor has not been appointed.
