New York: BSMG Worldwide has bought German public relations and

investor relations agency Management Profile Consulting (MPC), making

the new entity the fifth-largest PR firm in Germany.

Under the deal MPC will merge its operations with the BSMG Hamburg

operation, APR/BSMG, to form BSMG Worldwide Germany. Fees for the

combined agencies are expected to top pounds 5 million in 2000, making

it a top five Germany agency with a presence in Hamburg, Munich, Berlin,

Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Bremen.

Janos Goenczol, managing director of MPC, becomes chairman of BSMG

Worldwide Germany, as well as joining the management boards of BSMG

Worldwide and BSMG Europe.

The former chief executive of APR, Wolfgang Raike, will be chief

executive of the new company. The chief operating officer will be Rolf

Tiessen, formerly on the MPC board, while Wolfgang Kreuter, who joined

BSMG late last year from ABC Euro, will head plans to merge the

businesses.

APR/BSMG’s strengths are in healthcare, brand and consumer marketing,

public affairs and crisis management, while MPC specialises in financial

and corporate PR, new media and issues management. Clients for the new

company will come from both sides, including BMW and Siemens for MPC, as

well as APR’s Olympus, Velux and Germany’s foreign ministry. New

business plans include ambitions for growth in investor relations and

initial public offering work.

The whole BSMG Worldwide business - the world’s seventh largest PR

network - remains a unit of the New York Stock Exchange-listed True

North Communications.
