The Wall Street Journal is to recruit more than six new editorial

staff in Brussels and London to work for its web site.

At present wsj.com has five editorial staff in Europe and plans to

increase this number to more than 11. European senior editor, Peter

Greiff, was hired last September, and is based in London. He has two

staff in London, one in Paris and one in Brussels. According to editor

and publisher Neil Budde, the move to expand wsj.com’s European staff

has been timed to coincide with an expansion of the paper’s European

print version. The Wall Street Journal Europe is planning to expand its

staff by more than 20 per cent to 80.

The revamped site will update news faster and feature more European

markets. Coverage of the London markets has already begun, and the Paris

and Frankfurt markets will be added in the next few months. The site is

exploring partnerships with European content providers. The site has

12,000 subscribers in Europe, and 360,000 worldwide.
