Specialist financial agency Cubitt Consulting has hired former

Brunswick senior associate partner Andy Berry as a new director. Berry

left Brunswick in September after only seven months to seek a more

’entrepreneurial’ role.

Berry began work last week for Cubitt on three unnamed initial public

offerings (IPOs) in the hi-tech sector. Other accounts will include

commercial bank UniCredito Italiano, retailer Somerfield and cigarette

manufacturer Gallaher. Last year he worked on transactions involving

Telecom Italia and publisher Reed Elsevier while at Brunswick.

According to Berry, ’there is a much more entrepreneurial approach at

Cubitt. It is growing rapidly which is what attracts me’.

Before joining Brunswick, Berry was a director in the UK equity capital

markets division of international bank CSFB. He spent 16 years

there.

Berry joins Cubitt’s three founding partners and fellow director Martin

Forrest, who joined from Banner PR in December to head Cubitt’s new

media and hi-tech arm (PRWeek, 26 November 1999).

Managing partner Simon Brocklebank-Fowler said that Berry brings ’an

inside-out knowledge of capital markets and how financial decisions are

made; transaction expertise in M&As and IPOs; and media relations

expertise from Brunswick’.

Launched a year ago, Cubitt Consulting now has 15 staff and aims to have

25 by the end of this year. Brocklebank-Fowler said he intends Cubitt to

become one of the top three pan-European financial communications

companies, although he would not reveal fee income.
