Gavin Anderson, worldwide chief executive of the eponymous PR

company, has stepped down, and appointed Richard Constant MBE to take

his place.

Constant was previously chief executive of the London office. He has

worked for Gavin Anderson and Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of

Omnicom, for ten years, prior to which he worked at international

investment bank Robert Fleming.

His appointment is one of several changes to the senior management of

the financial and corporate PR specialist.

Anderson remains as chairman, while Robert Mead, previously head of

Gavin Anderson’s North American operations, becomes president.

The head of Gavin Anderson in Europe, Howard Lee, becomes executive

vice-chairman of Gavin Anderson Worldwide, heading the financial

practice group; and chairman of the London operation.

’We have put in place a new management team to take the business

forward,’ said Constant. ’We intend to become the premier firm in our

chosen field and to be recognised internationally as the firm of choice

to advise on communication issues that matter in the boardroom.’

Gavin Anderson and Company was founded in New York 20 years ago and now

has offices in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, Frankfurt,

Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. It plans to open five new offices by

2001, in cities including Sao Paulo, Brussels and Johannesburg.

It has worldwide fee income of over pounds 25 million a year, 230 staff

and some 300 clients, which include Reuters, IBM, British Energy and

Telstra.

Commenting on Constant’s appointment, Anderson said: ’It is time for the

company to grow from its very solid base to its next stage, and I

believe that this is best done under the new and fresh leadership which

Richard embodies.’
