Greenwell trades in Jaguar for Ford role

Ford Europe has promoted Jaguar PR chief Joe Greenwell to the post of vice-president in charge of communications and public affairs.

Ford Europe has promoted Jaguar PR chief Joe Greenwell to the post

of vice-president in charge of communications and public affairs.

Greenwell will be in charge of Ford’s 90 pan-European PR staff, and from

the company’s base in Cologne will oversee the press office, strategic

media planning and internal and corporate communications. Most of Ford

Europe’s PR is handled in-house, with agency assistance sought only on a

project basis.

Like Jaguar, Ford Europe is a subsidiary of Ford Motors in the US.

Greenwell, who was communications and public affairs director at the

luxury car maker, moves in January and will report to Ford Europe’s

chairman, Nick Scheele.

He will replace Wolfgang Schneider, whose vice-presidency of legal,

governmental and public affairs, has been modified to remove the public

affairs part but include environmental matters.

Greenwell joined Jaguar in 1983 as marketing research manager. He held a

succession of communications and public affairs jobs within the company

before being appointed director in 1996 and is now one of Ford Europe’s

seven vice-presidents.

Greenwell’s post at Jaguar will be filled by Stuart Dyble, currently

director of global marketing and manufacturing public affairs at Ford

Motors’ international headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

Dyble joined Ford in 1994 as UK corporate communications manager,

working in product and motor sport PR before landing the director of

communications job. He will head a team of 20 at Jaguar’s PR department,

and report to Jonathan Browning, Jaguar’s managing director.

These changes at Jaguar are linked to the company’s plan to compete for

the first time next year in Formula 1 racing.
