Boots The Chemists and Hollinger Digital have handed a pounds
100,000 fee consumer and trade PR account to Powerhouse to promote new
women-focused internet web site, handbag.com.
The web site is a joint venture between Boots and Hollinger Digital -
the e-commerce arm of Daily and Sunday Telegraph owner Hollinger
Powerhouse will be responsible for promoting the launch of handbag.com,
which will sell mother, baby, health and beauty products. The agency
will stage events around the launch of the site, scheduled for this
autumn, and will be responsible for media relations.
The site will be branded with the Boots name, but Hollinger Digital has
been responsible for developing and setting it up.
Hollinger is also considering the possibility of extending the site into
a portal - a gateway to the internet - offering a range of services and
making it a rival to Dixons offshoot Freeserve. An internet access site
would encourage visitors to stay on-line longer and allow Boots to
charge higher advertising rates.
