Darrell McLennan-Fordyce named senior director of communications at the NBA

The National Basketball Association (NBA), Europe has appointed Darrell McLennan-Fordyce as senior director of comms.

McLennan-Fordyce will work across the EMEA region to promote NBA events, as well as raising awareness of the brand's CSR programmes; Basketball without Borders and NBA Cares.

He recently led the Madrid bid to host the 2018 Ryder Cup and consulted on the 2011 Volvo Ocean Race.

Sophie Goldschmidt, senior vice-president, NBA Europe said: 'Darrell's breadth of comms and sports marketing experience means we have a versatile director of comms who can support all our offices and partners as we develop our longer-term plans, especially with London 2012 on the horizon and beyond.'

He will work closely with the teams in London, Paris, Madrid, Milan and Istanbul as well as across the Middle East and Africa to develop the brand.
