MEDIA: BRIEFS - Emap Radio picks up authority licence

The Radio Authority has awarded the local digital multiplex licence for Tyne and Wear to Emap Digital Radio. The station, which is wholly-owned by Emap Radio, plans to broadcast a total of eight services, including contemporary hits, easy listening, dance, country music and modern rock.

music and modern rock.



The services should commence in November 2000, and will reach 87 per

cent of the Tyne and Wear population. Emap Digital Radio was the sole

applicant for the licence.
