Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Media Intelligence Partners has hired Michael Magan, the former senior White House aide.

Magan joined Westminster-based PR and political consultancy firm last week. Magan will work with MIP on developing consultancy services for US and UK corporates, research institutes and government relations. He has set up Halas Strategies to partner with MIP on international projects.

Salient Public Affairs, a new public affairs consultancy, has been launched this month by Jonathan Williams. Prior to this, Williams spent two years as an associate director at Political Intelligence. Williams' client experience includes AOL, Cable & Wireless, Canon, Coca-Cola and UK and US hedge funds. Before joining Political Intelligence, Williams worked as a press officer for Wimbledon MP Roger Casale.

The Royal British Legion has appointed Ian Palmer as a public affairs officer. He joins from the Chartered Management Institute, where he spent just under a year as policy and public affairs officer. He will report to head of public affairs Kevin Shinkwin.

Gatwick Airport has recruited Henry Parker as a public affairs manager. He joins from UK technology trade association Intellect, where he headed its telecoms and spectrum programmes.
