She joins CCC Europe from Profero London, and will be based in the firm's central London office. She will report to European operations director Fiona Hall.

Hall said of Walmsley's appointment: 'Increasingly our clients are keen to explore use of digital channels to communicate appropriately with stakeholders. Having Sam join the UK team and partner with our global colleagues will ensure we help our clients optimise use of this channel as an exciting new resource for communication.'

She will also join the firm's European and global leadership team, supporting CCC's continued growth in the healthcare communications arena.

At Profero, Walmsley led a range of digital projects for clients in the pharmaceutical and healthcare arena. She previously consulted on brand strategy and digital engagement, and provided audience insights for clients.

Walmsley's appointment is the latest new development at CCC. Earlier this year the agency launched a European division specialising in 'identity-driven' communications within the healthcare industry.

The new business unit, called Ingenda Communications, is headed by MD Kelly Teasdale and focuses on segmenting and dividing healthcare audiences to provide more targeted communications for clients.

CCC topped this year's PRWeek Healthcare Top 25 league table, with £10,642,000 income in 2009.
