Media: Laycock to lead Discovery’s latest venture in health

Discovery Networks Europe has appointed a programming chief for its health channel, due to launch later this month.

health channel, due to launch later this month.



Clare Laycock, previously director of programme planning for Discovery

Home and Leisure, has been named director of programmes for Discovery

Health. Discovery is negotiating with potential carriers for the Health

channel.



The company has also reorganised staffing to cope with European

expansion.



Former UK director of programme planning for Discovery and the Showcase

Channels, Marian Williams, will now become deputy controller of

programming for the channels across Europe. Her place will be taken by

three managing editors in newly-created roles.



Discovery reversioning manager Joe Schneider will head Discovery UK, and

deputy commissioning editor Kate Beswick takes over the Continental

Networks. A managing editor for the Showcase Channels has yet to be

appointed.
