DUBLIN: Shandwick International has acquired Dublin PR firm

Financial and Corporate Communications to strengthen its financial and

corporate capabilities in Europe.

The 15-strong agency was acquired for an undisclosed sum but is believed

to be worth close to pounds 2 million. It has been renamed FCC

Shandwick.

FCC, which is headed by directors and founders Eileen Gleeson and Mary

McCarthy, will complement Shandwick’s existing office in Belfast.

Shandwick deputy chief executive Michael Murphy said: ’The firm will be

an immediate asset as we strengthen our financial communications

capabilites around the world and expand our technology and public

affairs expertise into new markets.’

FCC has worked with Shandwick in the past on one of Ireland’s biggest

corporate transactions, as part of the Esat Telecom bid defence team,

which won the best Financial Campaign Award at the PRCA awards in

Ireland.
