HONG KONG: 3Com, the global data networking company with 300

million customers worldwide, has hired Burson-Marsteller Hong Kong

director Angela Heng as its regional public affairs head.

Her remit will cover ten Asian countries and she will work alongside a

regional PR manager, as yet unappointed. The company retains Ogilvy PR

Worldwide as its regional agency, and the firm’s associate director,

Steve Yap, is acting as regional PR manager until an appointment is

made.

The appointment is the first addition to the corporate communications

department in Asia Pacific since PR director Minnie Lee left in

March.

Since then, the PR manager role has been upgraded and given a wider

brief, focusing more on China and Japan (PR Week, 22 October 1999).

3Com retains Ogilvy locally in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and India;

Edelman PR Worldwide in Australia; Penner-Madison in Thailand; Stratos

in the Philippines, and Indo Ad/Ogilvy PR in Indonesia.
