Portman Group hires National Lottery's Sarah Hanratty to lead comms

Alcohol industry body the Portman Group has brought in Sarah Hanratty as its head of communications and external affairs.

She joins from the National Lottery Commission where she led communications for the lottery regulator.

Prior to this role she was press secretary to the Leader of the House of Lords and strategic account manager at the Cabinet Office.

Hanratty will head up comms for the alcohol organisation as it continues its attempts to influence UK drinks producers to demonstrate social responsibility in the marketing and promotion of their products.

David Poley, chief executive of the Portman Group, said: ‘Sarah brings a great depth of talent and experience to the Portman Group both in terms of her professional communications expertise and her previous regulatory and Government roles.  This will be important as we work with the UK drinks industry, Government and key stakeholders to set the gold standard for effective and socially responsible self-regulation.’

The Portman Group is funded by its eight member companies: AB InBev, Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands, Beverage Brands, Carlsberg, Diageo, Heineken, Molson Coors Brewing Company and Pernod Ricard.
