Europe’s most visited sports web site, Sports.com, has appointed

Citigate Dewe Rogerson (CDR) to handle its corporate and financial

PR.

CDR’s head of corporate PR Richard Campbell will lead the five-strong

account team, reporting to Sports. com chief financial officer Gavin

Chittick.

’All our previous PR has been consumer-related, but this deal with CDR

takes us to another level,’ said Chittick.

He added that the company would be reviewing its arrangements with

present agency, Grant Butler Coomber.

CDR’s brief is to establish a corporate, financial and consumer profile

for Sports.com, and to drive advertisers and sponsors on to the

site.

Founded in May 1999, Sports.com had financial support from sports stars

such as Tiger Woods, who have become secondary investors by backing the

venture to the tune of pounds 625,000 each. It has country-specific

sites in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
