The Institute of Directors is on the hunt for a new PR director to

oversee the launch in the autumn of its new e-commerce tool,

IOD.com.

The role is a revised version of the former head of communications post

of IoD Enterprises. Previous incumbent Judy Osborn left in February to

join PR agency August. One Communications.

The IoD originally started the search for a replacement shortly after

Osborn’s departure but has since decided to sharpen the focus of the

role to manage PR for IOD.com.

IOD.com will be an on-line resource selling consultancy products for

businesses to take commercial advantage of electronic opportunities.

’We need someone who is in tune with e-commerce and the developments in

that field. This is a big step for the IoD which we have invested a lot

of time and money in, so it is important we have the right person on

board from the beginning,’ an IoD spokesman told PR Week.

The IoD now plans to bring in someone with a technology background and

has upgraded the role to director to emphasise the importance of the

post within the organisation.

The post will work alongside communications director Steve Reardon and

will report to IoD director Andrew Main Wilson.
