NatMags hands PR to Littlehales

The National Magazine Company has appointed Tania Littlehales to the newly-created position as head of PR.

The National Magazine Company has appointed Tania Littlehales to

the newly-created position as head of PR.



Littlehales, previously acting head of corporate affairs at MTV, reports

to Siobhan Kenny, director of communications at NatMags. Her remit

includes day-to-day management of a ten-strong communications team, as

well as developing the department’s role within NatMags.



The appointment was described by Kenny as ’the final piece in the

jigsaw’, as it completes a restructure of NatMags’ communications

operations, which began with Kenny’s appointment last June (PR Week, 18

June 1999). This included splitting the existing PR team into two, with

each servicing different magazines, to give the operation an ’agency

feel’.



Kenny and Littlehales will work together with the objective of

increasing the profile of NatMags’ brands as well as the corporate

business. NatMags’ titles include Cosmopolitan, Prima, Good Housekeeping

and the recently-revamped men’s title Esquire. It has implemented a

strategy to develop its master brands, by launching titles such as

Cosmopolitan Real Life and Cosmopolitan Hair and bringing men’s health

title ZM under the Esquire banner.



NatMags currently handles all PR in house, but Kenny refused to rule out

hiring an agency in the future. It recently appointed Initiative Media

for an above-the-line campaign.



Littlehales has spent most of her career working for Biss Lancaster,

which she joined in 1992. In May 1999 she joined MTV Networks Europe as

maternity cover for Alison Reid, who has now resumed her role as head of

corporate affairs at the music channel.
