Healthcare and corporate PR specialist Ruder Finn has promoted UK
managing director Lee Tomkins to the newly-created role of head of Ruder
The announcement is part of Ruder Finn’s overall strategy to boost both
its European development and improve its technology PR offering.
As a result of Tomkins’ promotion, former Grayling director Alison Miles
has joined Ruder Finn as UK head.
The agency has also recruited Jo Perrin, formerly an associate director
at IT specialist The Weber Group Europe, to lead Ruder Finn’s expansion
into hi tech PR.
Tomkins reports to Ruder Finn president Kathy Bloomgarden in New
She joined Ruder Finn five years ago to set up the London office, which
has grown to a pounds 2.6 million fee income business.
Tomkins said she had maintained a ’watching brief’ during this time on
the rest of Europe but explained that a full-time position was necessary
to maximise opportunities. ’If we are going to be serious about Europe,
we need to do this properly,’ she said.
The European network will be a mixture of affiliates, acquisitions and
organic growth, Tomkins said. She promised an ’aggressive’ approach and
aims to start recruiting a team towards the end of the year.
Miles worked on healthcare accounts with Grayling, such as Bayer
Consumer Care and Femidom, as well as corporate and education clients.
She also co-ordinated new business activities.
Reporting to Tomkins and Bloomgarden, Miles will lead a UK team of 25
which includes Perrin.
