Norwich Union, the UK’s fourth-largest general insurance firm, has
handed its six-figure financial and investor relations brief to
The account was awarded following a five-way pitch which included
incumbent agency Brunswick, Ludgate Communications, Hogarth Partnership
and Hill and Knowlton.
The six-strong account team at FD will be led by managing director
Charles Watson and director Giles Sanderson. The team will report to
Norwich Union’s director of corporate communications and investor
relations, Rebecca Burrows.
FD’s remit covers financial and corporate PR. It also includes advice
through FD’s financial services team to some of Norwich Union’s
operating companies on a project basis, including the launch this week
of Norwich Union International, a new offshore division based in
Norwich Union has maintained long-term relationships with QBO for
consumer PR, and Hill and Knowlton for public affairs. H&K’s brief is
currently being reviewed, with a decision expected by next week. The
company also maintains a ten-strong press office under media relations
head James Duffell, who reports to Burrows, to handle relations with the
trade press and day-to-day media enquiries.
The company upgraded its top PR post last year following the departure
of corporate affairs manager Raymond Wilson. Burrows, who saw
communications added to her investor relations portfolio, instituted a
review of the entire group’s PR function.
