Kerrie Finch, account director at consumer hi-tech PR agency Bite

Communications, has accidentally provided the Cheltenham and Gloucester

building society with some ideas to improve its employee package.

The situation arose after Finch applied for a mortgage three months ago,

only to get a call last week from one of the branch managers at C&G to

say she was impressed with Bite’s employment contract benefit

scheme.

The scheme offers employees an opportunity to earn points - and what do

points mean? Prizes, in the form of a pension, healthcare, gym

membership, a mobile phone - even a car, depending on your position in

the company.

One of the big perks of the job is ’duvet days’ - which means that when

it’s your birthday you don’t have to turn up for work and it doesn’t

count as holiday.

C&G is now holding up the agency’s benefit scheme as a model for its

own.

’I was amazed - C&G must have thousands of these contracts coming

through each week,’ comments Finch. Perhaps other agencies should take

note.

Oh, she got the mortgage.
