Public Sector: Forster to handle Science Museum brief

The Science Museum has selected Forster to support a new drive to reduce carbon emissions among its employees.

Last week, the Science Museum announced details of a new interactive climate science gallery, named Atmosphere: Exploring Climate Science, which will open in November.

Forster will work to support the museum's drive to reduce carbon emissions by advising on the development of an employee engagement programme to help meet 10:10 commitments. 10:10 is a charity campaigning to get individuals, firms and institutions to reduce their carbon footprints by ten per cent during 2010.

The brief was won after a competitive pitch.

Forster consultant Katie McCrory said: 'It's about helping the museum to look at its own sustainability practices and encouraging staff to behave in greener ways at work. Hopefully, they'll adopt these things at home as well.'

The agency will also support stakeholder and public communications around the launch of the new gallery space. McCrory will lead the brief, with director Amanda Powell-Smith, reporting to PR and marketing manager Andrea Dearden.

Meanwhile, Forster came 17th in The Sunday Times Best Green Companies list for 2010.
