In a speech given at the Hospital Club yesterday, discussing missed opportunities in the evolution of the UK's technology infrastructure, Hunt said: 'Some of our biggest creative companies - including the world's largest advertising agency WPP - have chosen to relocate abroad.
'We're in danger of allowing ourselves to be once again defined by the old truism - that we provide the creativity and the rest of the world makes the money.'
However, senior digital consultant at Waggener Edstrom Jon Silk believes that it is more about the 'creative idea' than the technology required.
He said: 'So will PR agencies leave the country due to a poor technological infrastructure? I'd suggest that they wouldn't.
'While better tech certainly allows us to collaborate and deliver content in new ways, it's the creative idea that counts. Even social media campaigns are firmly rooted in ideas, rather than technology.'
