South African ad firm Gullan&Gullan in PR drive

South African advertising agency Gullan&Gullan has launched a PR division and hired a communications executive to run it.

Proving that the trend of advertisers expanding into PR is not just a feature of the London media scene, G&G formed the new division to grow its existing PR activity – which the company claims has grown 200 per cent in billing terms – and find new clients.

Micaela Soliani has been hired to run the division as PR general manager, a PR veteran who has worked with EMI Music Alfa Romeo and Nestlé in South Africa. Last month the company appointed Roshika Doolabh as PR account executive to deal with increased demand.

'PR is a natural complementary service of advertising – they are co-dependent,' said company MD Michael Gullan. 'The two work seamlessly, adding value to the other and enhancing credibility. Advertising builds awareness, while PR is an opportunity to expand on the single-minded message.'
