BBC Choice names programming head

Stuart Murphy, currently channel editor at music and comedy channel UK Play, has been named as the new programming head for BBC Choice.

Murphy succeeds Katherine Everett, who is taking up the newly-created

role of controller of interactive television and navigation. Murphy will

report to Roly Keating, controller BBC digital channels, and starts on 1

November.

Murphy’s previous experience includes being a series producer with MTV

and a producer on Planet 24’s The Big Breakfast. He joined UK Play in

July 1998, becoming the UK’s youngest channel editor, at the age of 26.
