BONN: GPC is set to buy its German affiliate public affairs agency,

Ipse Communication.

The two are on the point of signing a deal whereby Omnicom-owned GPC

would buy an initial minority stake in Ipse, which would be extended to

a majority within the next three years.

Ipse counts six staff spread across Bonn and a new office in Berlin.

The company, which specialises in policy analysis and research as well

as government relations, expects to register a fee income of pounds

675,000 for this year. Its clients include pharmaceutical giants

Novartis and Bayer.

Ipse MD Martina Dormann will retain her position, as will agency

founders and directors Richard Schutze and Joachim Roscher.

GPC European CEO Julia Harrison confirmed her firm is in negotiations

with Ipse but declined to comment further.

The deal would bring the number of GPC’s wholly- or partly-owned

affiliates to four. The agency counts affiliates in nine other cities.
