Beeby will head media at Lloyd’s

Lloyd’s of London has signed up Adrian Beeby, former director of communications at Water UK, as its new media relations manager.

Lloyd’s of London has signed up Adrian Beeby, former director of

communications at Water UK, as its new media relations manager.

Reporting to marketing and communications manager Caroline Wagstaff,

Beeby has joined a unit which has undergone dramatic changes in recent

months.

In June it combined its marketing department with its communications

department, resulting in the departure of six staff, including media

relations manager Nick Doak and corporate communications head Peter

Hill.

Hill is still a consultant for Lloyd’s, and Doak has returned to

journalism - after 20 years in PR - as a correspondent for Reuters.

Beeby’s brief includes fronting the insurer’s relationship with

regulators, managing high profile announcements and emphasising the

organisation’s status as a global player. He said: ’The market is

beginning to look to the future again after a long time dealing with its

problems.’

The marketing and communications department already has a wide remit,

looking after internal communications, web sites and intranet, events,

community programmes and publications.

Beeby said he would spend the next few weeks analysing perceptions of

Lloyd’s before establishing whether further changes are needed in his

department.

He added that there were no plans to review the insurer’s relationship

with College Hill, which it hired in June.
