Opinion: From our Readers - Women fly the PR flag at Sabre Awards

If last week's Sabre Awards at The Roundhouse were an indicator, it seems that the PR industry is flying the flag for equal opportunities (at least in terms of gender, if not race), with leading, inspirational women representing all career levels picking up award after award.

What a pity, therefore, that the award organisers chose to perpetuate the 'woman as window dressing' stereotype by having a model mutely hand over awards to the host Paul Holmes. Her role was not acknowledged (unlike that of the on-stage rock guitarist), nor was she thanked at the end. The only reference to her I heard was Holmes quipping about everyone wanting to kiss the trophy model.
