Media Briefs: BBC Worldwide sells net stake to US firm

BBC Worldwide has sold a stake in its internet ventures, beeb.com and freebeeb.net, the ISP. The pounds 32.5 million paid by US internet investor TH Lee Global Internet Managers will be used to develop the BBC’s online offerings under the auspices of a new subsidiary, beeb Ventures. The BBC’s plan is to use outside partners to help fund development and marketing of the services as public uptake increases and it targets the ’middle England’ market.
